UK - How to find your TIN (Tax identification Number)?

As of January 2026, your tax number (National Insurance Number) is mandatory on your Bitpanda account under the DAC8 regulation in Europe.

This is a 9-digit number assigned to each taxpayer (under the format: 2 letters, 6 numbers and 1 letter)

How can I find my Tax Identification Number (TIN)?

  • If you have a UK citizenship, you will find your National Insurance Number in your coding notice, sent by the HRMC.
  • It can also appear on:
    • Your pay slip (in case you are an employee)
    • The HRMC app
    • Your Apple or Google Wallet if you saved it there.
  • If you do not have access to your National Insurance Number, you can go to the UK government website and check if you are eligible to receive one or not.
For any questions about the governmental website, you must contact the tax authority’s support service. Bitpanda will not be able to assist you in accessing this service.
