FAQ's

Can I verify if my country or ID is not supported? +

Unfortunately, if we do not support your identity document or country of residence, this means that verification with Bitpanda is currently not possible.

Why is my ID supported but not my country of residence? +

Due to regulatory reasons, verification is only possible in certain countries. However, in some cases, the verification providers accept ID documents even from non-supported countries.

Example: Although verification is not available in Argentina, an Argentinian passport can be a valid verification document.

I can’t verify. Are there alternatives? +

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to complete your verification if our verification services are unable to verify your account. We also do not offer the possibility to be verified by post, via email or in person.

What basic requirements must I meet to create an account? +

To be accepted as a Bitpanda user, you must fulfill three main criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Reside in one of our accepted countries where services are offered.
  • Possess an officially accepted, valid identity document issued by an accepted country.
Which types of identity documents are generally accepted? +

Depending on your nationality and country of residence, accepted documents generally include:

  • Passports: Accepted for almost all supported countries.
  • National ID Cards: Accepted for EEA citizens and select other jurisdictions.
  • Driving Licenses or Residence Permits: Accepted for certain countries (e.g., UK or EEA residents).

Note: Paper-based identity documents or temporary IDs are generally not accepted.

When do I need to submit a Proof of Address / Residence? +

You may be requested to upload a Proof of Residence (e.g., a utility bill or bank statement issued within the last 3 months) if your identity document does not verify your address or if you reside in a different country than your citizenship.

UK Users: Due to local Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulatory standards, UK residents are more likely to be required to confirm their UK address during account setup or verification.

Why are US citizens or US taxpayers restricted from onboarding? +

Due to regulatory constraints and FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) requirements, Bitpanda cannot accept US citizens or individuals residing/tax-reportable in the United States.
