How to find your TIN (Tax identification number)?

Since January 2026, Bitpanda needs to ask for your Tax Identification Number (TIN). This article covers where to find your TIN for most countries where Bitpanda operates and that have a TIN.

For most countries, your TIN is available: 

  • On your National ID or official IDs (social papers, etc.)
  • On your tax documentation

  • You will find your number in official letters like the Steuerbescheid you receive from the Austrian tax office (Finanzamt) in your FinanzOnline account. https://finanzonline.bmf.gv.at
Belgium - Numero National (NN)

  • Digits: 11
  • In Belgium, your TIN corresponds to your national register number. Find it on: Your ID card (back) or official administrative documents.
Czech Republic - Rodné Číslo
  • Format: 999999/999 - 999999/9999
  • Digits: 9-10
  • Found on your national ID card, Czech passport, or driving licence. Also on tax returns or social security statements.

  • Format: 99999999999
  • Digits: 11
  • 1. On your ID. 2. Online via e-Citizens (gov.hr). 3. Contact the Croatian Tax Administration.
France - Numéro fiscal de référence
  • Format: 99 99 999 999 999
  • Digits: 13
  • Found on your annual tax notice (avis d’imposition) and your personal account at impots.gouv.fr.

  • Digits: 11

  • Found on your official tax card (adóazonosító kártya) issued by the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV).

Netherlands - BSN

  • Found on your passport (back), identity card (top right), or driver’s license.
Poland - NIP

  • Digits: 11
  • Found on official forms from the local tax office (Urząd Skarbowy). Apply via NIP-7 form if needed.
Romania - Personal Numeric Code
  • Format: AYYMMDDBB9999
  • Digits: 10
  • CNP (13 digits) found on identity card, passport or residence permit. Contact ANAF if foreigners need a NIF.
Spain - DNI / NIE

  • Digits: 9
  • Found on ID, driver license, or Resident Permit. Contact Agencia Tributaria if missing.
Switzerland - AHV-Nummer
