Austria / Germany / Switzerland - How to find your TIN (tax Identification Number)?

As of January 2026, your tax number is mandatory on your Bitpanda account under the DAC8 regulation in Europe.

For Austria, this is a 9-digit number assigned to each taxpayer, with a potential slash (/) included. 

For Germany, this is a 10-digit number plus one check digit at the end. 

For Switzerland (OASI number), this is a 12-digit number, with an initial 3-digit country code and 9 random number. 

How can I find my Tax Identification Number (TIN) in Austria? 

  • TIN are not reported on official documents of identification: no TIN cards are issued. TIN numbers can be found on tax assessments in the right upper corner on the first page. Other documentation is possible: no standard form is foreseen.
  • If you do not have access to your tax notices, you can go to the website https://www.bmf.gv.at/ and request to receive your tax number by mail.

How can I find my Tax Identification Number (TIN) in Germany? 

  • The Federal Central Tax Office promptly sends a written notice to taxpayers informing them of the TIN that has been issued to them and the data that has been stored together with the TIN.
  • A taxpayer’s TIN is also indicated on tax assessment notices and correspondence from revenue authorities.
  • If you do not have access to your tax notices, you can go to the government website bzst.de or contact the Federal Central Tax Office.

How can I find my Tax Identification Number (TIN) in Switzerland? 

  • OASI Number can be found on the official insurance certificate that is issued as of 2008. The insurance certificate indicates the family name, the first name, the date of birth and the OASI Number of the person covered by the Swiss OASI. The insurance certificate has the size of a credit card.
