With the introduction of Real Stocks to Bitpanda, we are updating our onboarding process to ensure full compliance with new financial regulations. This guide explains why these changes are happening and what steps you need to take based on your location.
Why do I need to re-verify?
To offer Real Stocks and complex ETFs, we must adhere to specific regional regulations. This requires us to:
Confirm Personal Data
Ensure your information is up to date.
Tax Identification
Collect your Tax Identification Number (TIN) (within 60 days, except for Spain, Italy, Portugal, Iceland, Malta and Poland, where it is required at account creation).
Knowledge Assessment
Administer a brief test to ensure you understand the risks associated with complex ETFs & ETCs investments.
Onboarding Steps by Region
For new users, you will only have to acknowledge the consent screen and then approve the T&Cs.
FAQ's
What if I don't have a TIN? +
You can select a reason (e.g., student status or recent relocation). Our team will review your case. Note: A TIN (if existing/available in your country) is mandatory on Bitpanda.
Why can't I enter my TIN on a desktop? +
If you encounter issues adding your Tax Identification Number (TIN) on desktop, for example if the pop-up doesn't open, please try again using the Bitpanda mobile app.
Can I decline the T&Cs? +
Acceptance is required to trade stocks on Bitpanda. If you decline, you won’t have access to real stocks.
I am a U.S. citizen in Europe; can I trade? +
Unfortunately, no. Due to strict regulations, Bitpanda cannot onboard U.S. persons. You will need to withdraw your funds and close your account.
Can I skip KYC (Germany)? +
No. To comply with local law and access Stocks/ETFs, the re-verification process and questionnaire are mandatory.
