UK - How to find your TIN (Tax identification Number)?

As of January 2026, your tax number (called NINO or National Insurance Number in the United Kingdom) is mandatory on your Bitpanda account under the DAC8 regulation in Europe.

This is a 9-digit number assigned to each taxpayer (under the format: 2 letters, 6 numbers and 1 letter)

How can I find my Tax Identification Number (TIN)?

  • If you have a UK citizenship, you will find your NINO in your coding notice, sent by the HRMC.
  • It can also appear on:
    • Your pay slip (in case you are an employee)
    • The HRMC app if you live in the UK
    • Your Apple or Google Wallet if you saved it there.
  • If you do not have access to your NINO, you can go to the website governmental site and check if you are eligible to receive one or not.
For any questions about the governmental website, you must contact the tax authority’s support service. Bitpanda will not be able to assist you in accessing this service.
