When you trade Real Securities (stocks, ETFs and ETCs) on Bitpanda, your order is processed according to real market mechanics. This means that execution depends on market prices, available liquidity and exchange conditions.
Below is a simple overview of the trade flow, from placing an order to execution:
- Click on Trade in the top right
- Click on Buy
- Select the Real Security: Choose the stock, ETF or ETC you want to trade.
- Choose the order type: Select a market order or a Bitpanda Limit Order.
- Review the order:
- For a market order you will be shown a price that you can immediately accept resulting in the execution of your order.
For a Bitpanda Limit Order: you can provide a limit and once this limit is reached an order will be triggered. The execution of this order can be above or below the limit you provided, as the order will be executed at the next price that is received from the stock exchange.
You’ll see a summary of your order before confirmation.
- Execution: The order executes based on real-time market prices and available liquidity.
Note: For Bitpanda Limit Orders, the final execution price may differ from the preview shown before confirmation. Once triggered, the order executes at the best available market price.
Bitpanda Limit Orders
A Bitpanda Limit Order lets you define the price at which you want to buy or sell a Real Security. The order is placed in the market and will only trigger if the market reaches your chosen price.
When a Bitpanda Limit Order is triggered, it executes at the best available market price at that moment. For this reason, there is no price guarantee once the order is triggered.

FAQ
Why did my Bitpanda Limit Order not trigger despite reaching the price on the chart?
Here is a quick breakdown of how it works:
- The Chart (Mid-price): The price line you see on the chart is the "Mid-price." This is simply the average between what buyers are willing to pay and what sellers are asking for.
- Selling (Bid price): If you set a Limit Order to sell, it will only trigger when a real buyer in the market is actually willing to pay your target price (the Bid price).
- Buying (Ask price): If you set a Limit Order to buy, it will only trigger when a real seller is willing to sell at your target price (the Ask price).
Why did my Bitpanda Limit Order execute at a different price?
Where can I create Bitpanda Limit Orders for Real Securities?
How much do I pay when a Bitpanda Limit Order executes?
Because market prices can change quickly, this final price may be different from the one shown before you confirmed the order.
