EU-Regulated Infrastructure
Every order placed through the API or MCP is processed on secure infrastructure strictly bound by European legal frameworks.
Multi-Asset in One Integration
Access crypto, stocks, ETFs, and metals to build diversified automated portfolios without stitching together multiple platforms.
You Remain in Control
Your AI assistant only acts on your explicit command. It prepares actions and executes trades only when you confirm them.
How it works: Set up your workflows in minutes
1
Generate your Bitpanda API key
Log in to your Bitpanda account and generate an API key from your
account settings.
Ensure you enable the required permissions, including
Trade: Read/Write, Earn: Read/Write, and
Balances: Read/Write. You can first test it with a
Read-only key before moving on.
2
Set up via config snippet
Drop the provided configuration block into Claude Desktop, Cursor, or
your preferred MCP client. No local server installation is required.
3
Verify connection
Test the integration by asking your AI assistant:
"List available trading pairs on Bitpanda." If it lists pairs
(e.g., BTC-EUR, ETH-EUR), you're live!
4
Start chatting
Ask your AI assistant anything in natural language. It will retrieve
information, analyse data, prepare actions, and execute trades only upon
your direct confirmation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a new account to use the API & MCP?
+
No. If you already have a standard Bitpanda account, you are ready to go. Simply generate an API key in your
Account Settings.
Can the AI actually execute real trades on my behalf?
+
Yes, but only when you explicitly authorise it. All MCP tools are read-only by
default. Transactions only execute when you explicitly tell your AI assistant
to perform a trade and confirm the action. You remain in complete control at
all times.
What is MCP (Model Context Protocol)?
+
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard for securely connecting AI assistants to external tools and data services. It is supported by platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, LibreChat, OpenClaw, Codex CLI, Antigravity, and Gemini CLI.
What can I automate with Bitpanda API and MCP server?
+
You can automate order placement, recurring investments, portfolio rebalancing, price alerts, performance reporting, and data exports across crypto-assets, stocks, ETFs, and metals: all from a single Bitpanda account.
What happens if my agent makes a mistake?
+
Every order goes through the exact same risk, balance, and compliance checks as a manual trade. For added safety, scope your API key to Read-Only while testing strategies, and grant Trade permissions only when you're confident in your setup.
Does Bitpanda offer a test or paper trading mode?
+
Start by creating a Read-Only API key. This grants your AI access to live market data and portfolio information without the ability to execute transactions. Test and simulate your strategy safely, then enable trading access when you are ready to go live.
How is this different from the Bitpanda Fusion API & MCP launch?
+
While Bitpanda Fusion (and its API/MCP) is designed specifically for active, quantitative crypto traders seeking order book execution tools and ultra-low fee tiers, this main Bitpanda API & MCP release is designed for retail and semi-pro investors wanting to automate workflows across every asset class (crypto, stocks, ETFs, and metals).
