With Bitpanda Cash Plus, where is my money going exactly?

The return is generated by investing in a derivative contract in which the underlying asset is a money market fund. This type of fund is trusted by banks and large corporations to keep their money safe and accessible while giving them a return. Each month your return is calculated and paid out as a dividend, similar to a corporate action.

Bitpanda offers derivative contracts for EUR, GBP and USD in which a Money Market Fund is always the underlying.

Understanding the risks

Risk & Volatility Overview

Short-term money market funds have low volatility. The main reason your yield will change is because of central bank interest rate decisions:

EUR Yield Dynamics

Your EUR Cash Plus yield changes dynamically in line with decisions made by the European Central Bank.

Risk Notice

While these funds are considered low-risk and hold the highest possible credit ratings, returns can still go up or down. Full details about this product, the issuer, and the relevant risks are available in the prospectus and in the investor information document.

FAQ's

When do I start receiving returns? +

Your money starts calculating rewards once it has been moved into the Cash Plus program and held as a BCP balance (like BCPEUR) for at least 24 hours.

For example, if you deposit Euros, they are moved at around 10:00 CET into BCPEUR. If you keep those funds in your wallet until at least 10:00 CET the following day, you will generate rewards for that day.

What is BCPEUR, BCPGBP, or BCPUSD? +

These are the internal system ticker symbols Bitpanda uses to show that your funds are successfully opted into Cash Plus. When you see BCPEUR in your wallet, it means your Euros have been converted into our Cash Plus product and are actively generating yield.

How is the yield generated? +

The return is generated by investing in a derivative contract in which the underlying asset is a Money Market Fund. Each month your return is calculated and paid out as a dividend, similar to a corporate action.

What is a Money Market Fund? +

A money market fund is a mutual fund that focuses on investing in low-risk securities with short-term maturities, including cash and cash equivalent securities. This type of fund is trusted by banks and large corporations to keep their money safe and accessible while giving them a return.

Bitpanda Cash Plus invests in these money market funds on your behalf, allowing you to invest your cash and generate returns higher than many traditional savings accounts, all while maintaining liquidity and safeguarding your capital.

Are there fees involved? +

While there are no buy and sell fees, we deduct a small fee from the yield earned before paying it out to customers. However, as a BEST VIP member, you enjoy reduced fees, further maximising your earning.

The BEST VIP programme will remain available to legacy members until the end of 2026.

Please note that fees for depositing EUR, USD or GBP may be applied depending on the currency or payment method selected. For more information, please have a look here. Also, be aware that your bank may charge additional fees for foreign currency transfers.

Are received yields taxable events? +

Yes. The regulatory framework for taxation differs from country to country. Please contact your personal tax advisor for further information about your individual situation.
